Join Bristol Squatted for a pay-as-you-can vegan dinner at the regular BASE Sunday cafe, followed by a showcase of clips from three films telling stories of squatting in Bristol, Brixton and Amsterdam. We’ll invite discussion on how these histories compare to Bristol today. We’ll also give a short update on the Bristol Squatted community history
project and make a call out for volunteers to join our group.
We’ll be showing and discussing clips from:
- The Lawbreakers (1973), about the Bristol Squatters’ Association.
- De stad was van on / It was our city (1996), about squatting in Amsterdam between 1975 and 1988
- We The People (2020), about grassroots activity and squatting in Brixton
- As well as a secret bonus video highlighting the place of squatting in the creation of the ‘Bristol sound’.
